"lemonade" out now! The evolution from Warm Memories + future prospects

Surprise! A new, fully completed VN is out today for all of you to play. I didn't think I'd be able to make it this time, but what wonders a little motivation can do for your work.

You see, dear reader, after releasing Warm Memories exactly a year ago, I wasn't planning on making more VNs. This is where those of you who've read the first devlog on WMs page will say "but you said you were planning a sequel!". Truth be told, that was a half-lie. Polar, as a character, I had written and drawn more of since, yes, but nothing I made was ever supposed to turn into something for the public. That decision came late last year as I had realized that all of the short scenes I had written meshed together perfectly and were, dare I pat myself on the back, too good to not show you.

Praise aside, there are a few things I'd like to clear up before we go further:

  • Is this a sequel to Warm Memories? Technically yes! Practically, it's whatever you want it to be. Some events from the first VN are referenced in here, and having read WM will make some things clearer, but in no way do you need that prior knowledge to enjoy this story. It stands tall on its own!
  • Why does Polar have a mustache now? Because I made him and I can update his character however I want. (and hey, guess what? his looks have been updated again since I drew the CGs for this project).
  • Is there anywhere I can see more of your art? Currently, no. I am planning a slow rollout of the sketches and pieces I've done since last year over on my Twitter (I refuse to call it X, sorry), but this will most likely take a while to realize because I have over 100 now (at least the last I counted them).
  • Will there be a third installment? My best answer for you right now is a weak 'maybe.' Once again, I have a vague idea of what I'd like to do and some stories are written, but with life getting more hectic as the years go by there is no saying what will happen in the future.
  • Is the playlist unimportant? Depends. I like sharing a playlist with my projects because I lot of ideas I get come from music; whole scenes of just a few sentences. What I want you to take away from the playlist is a) what I believe Polar would listen to, and b) similarities or connections to the story; a deeper understanding of some of the feelings and scenes I've written, basically.

Okay, now then, let's get into what's new:

  • Around 25k words for this one folks, which makes it more than 4x as long as Warm Memories was! You have 8 distinct scenes to go through, some shorter and some longer. And yes, once again, this is a full release.
  • 2 scenes from Polar's POV (which I'm sure you'll recognize easily).
  • 8 CGs (one for every scene). These should be an upgrade from what I've had in Warm Memories, though I'll be honest, I've drawn so much since making these that they're outdated compared to my current skills. Nonetheless, I hope they at least bring a smile to your face.
  • NO bonus content with this one. I had planned on adding a few extras to the end, but alas, you'll have to survive without them.

As I'm sure you can see, I compared a lot of what we have here to what I had in Warm Memories. In part because I know some people who've read WM will also read "lemonade," and in part because I am proud of my work. Is this the best story ever written? No. Does it have the best art? Heck no! But did I put every ounce of passion and soul I had into making it? Absolutely. Polar, as a character, and his story have become very dear to me since the release of WM. These projects, and what I put out there of him, are as if I were showing my magnum opus to the world. I know neither "lemonade" or WM really is that, but I woved to myself to try and work to my best abilities when making these stories, so hopefully you'll feel that when playing this.

To wrap things up, I'd like to thank you! Yes, you! Seeing the few reviews and downloads on Warm Memories meant the world to me, so I would like to thank anyone who reads one of my stories! Even if it's not up your alley, I'll forever be grateful that you gave me a chance. I'd also like to thank those who helped me again in the making of this project, either with actual QA-testing and proofreading, or just with encouragement. Your help meant the world to me.

Alright, I'll end this now before I ramble more. If you've made it this far, once again, thank you, and here's hoping you enjoy yourself some lemonade! :D
