One year of Warm Memories! A lookback and... lemonade!?

Welcome, dear reader, to celebrating a year since the release of Warm Memories!

Can you believe it's been that long already? I certainly can't, but hey, I'm writing this post! First of all, I hope the past year has been good to all of you. Life can be difficult sometimes, but grab it by the horns and make it obey! Secondly... where the hell did I disappear to??

So, funny story, I had to deal with life myself. I know, I know, it's the excuse everyone brings to the table, but really, a lot has happened since last year, and Warm Memories didn't really need my attention or support, so I kept quiet. But I'm back today with a double whammy, because not only are we taking a look at how WM performed in the last year, but I have some lemonade to give out to you all!

(If you only care about the drink, please scroll to the bottom of this post.)

Alright then, one year of Warm Memories! I'd like to go through the itch.io analytics with you all and see how this very poorly advertised project of mine did in terms of cold hard numbers!

For reference, we'll be using this photo (taken August 25th, 2024):

Now, let's go down the list and let me comment on the important numbers here:

  • Views: almost 3000 of you looked at the itch.io page for WM. Do you know how crazy that is? Never in my wildest dreams had I thought that that many people would even look at the game page, let alone do it long enough for it to show up here. This number is higher than what I expected, yet also nowhere near what a well-advertised VN will have. Nonetheless, I am happy with it.
  • Downloads: OVER 200 people took the time to download my silly game and play it. THANK YOU! Seriously, we went over the 200 downloads sometime in August of this year, and I couldn't believe my eyes. Here's something else interesting though: what baffles me is how the Android APK has almost as many downloads as the Windows/Linux file! I guess this works as a statement to other developers out there that yes, making a version for Android is totally worth it.
  • Ratings: Seven of you decided to rate my project (thank you!), and as of today, we’re standing at a perfect and shiny 5 stars! Special thanks to Kagurachan and especially  Piplup_Person for leaving some feedback besides the stars. Reading these ratings made my day, and I appreciate them a lot!
  • Collections: This is a weird one for me, because one would think that people who liked the game saved it, right? Wrong. It’s actually a bunch of collections full of every possible furry VN one can find on Itch. I’m surprised they even found my project lmao.
  • Comments: Zero. Yep, none of you wanted to leave a public review, which is fine, and honestly funnier than anything. Here’s hoping this changes at some point in the future!

Another funny thing I get to see in the analytics is what websites you visited the Itch page for WM from. And looking at the image below, I have a few questions. Why are people coming to my page from Baidu? And Yahoo Search? Who even uses that??

In any case, I just thought this was really funny and wanted to share it. If you’re one of the people from these sites, please tell me how you got to WM, I’d really love to know.

And now, time for lemonade! Which is actually the name of my NEW visual novel, which you can find here, released at the same time I publish this post! It’s been in the works for a few months and has some nifty updates when compared to Warm Memories, so if you feel like it, go check it out! I have a devlog posted over there with more information about it.

------

Anyways, I’d like to once again thank each and every one of you who even just as much as looked at the Itch page. It really means a lot for me that you cared enough to check out my work. Here’s hoping “lemonade” doesn’t leave a sour taste in your mouths! ;)
